  Barb Sackel Back

The title quilter does not begin to describe Barb Sackel’s many accomplishments in the world of quilting. The list includes pattern designer, artist, quilting-enthusiast, teacher, visionary, Author and now fabric designer.

Barb approaches her artistry by combining elements of imagery, design, texture, color-blending and method. She describes her finished quilting projects as usable and comfortable art. Her pattern designs cross over into different styles and she constantly challenges herself to incorporate different and new elements into her work.

Barb has been teaching quilting since 1998. She provides an abundance of information to help everyone achieve their best results. Her style of teaching includes giving her students jingles for helpful hints as well as her own quilting vocabulary for easy learning. Many of her original students are still her good friends today.

As a female entrepreneur, Barb is currently designing quilting patterns to share her quilting inspirations. She has over 40 patterns and two books that are on the market and available to the quilting public. Her work can be found at QuiltWoman.com, Nancy’s Notions, and Clotilde. Barb also designs for Accuquilt.com for the Accuquilt GO!™ Fabric Cutter. She currently has 20 patterns for the Accuquilt GO!™ Fabric Cutter and is working on a line of patterns for the Accuquilt Studio™ Fabric Cutter. Her patterns can be viewed on her web page at BarbSackel.com.

Barb is proficient in Watercolor, Acrylic and Oil painting. As an artist, she has produced and sold many paintings, some of which were commissioned pieces.

Barb’s 1st fabric line, The Ibiza Collection debuts in February 2010. She first drew the design and then hand painted all the pieces. Barb states; “I want my artistic style to reflect my quilting vision. I hope to provide whimsical fabrics that capture your imagination and ignite your creativity.” Barb will also be designing a line of patterns for every fabric line created.

Barb and her husband, Grant live in Upstate New York. They have been married for 31 years. They have a son and daughter, Chris (30) and Marie (25). “Grant is with me every step of the way on this incredible quilting journey. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in life,” Barb states.
